Our commitments

As a significant player in its region’s economic and social development, Lille Airport is committed to a responsible, voluntary approach to sustainable development.
Our sustainable development policy is based on a practical, targeted action plan, supported by an ISO 14001-certified environmental management system which ensures compliance with applicable requirements and the planning and monitoring of environmental actions throughout the operating cycle, organised according to the following 7 work areas :
Aware of the challenges linked to climate change and in line with European commitments towards carbon neutrality in 2050, Lille Airport has voluntarily committed itself to the “Airport Carbon Accreditation” approach. This is a system for controlling greenhouse gas emissions initiated by ACI Europe and supported by the European Commission, which makes it possible to identify, reduce and eventually neutralise the greenhouse gas emissions under the operator’s control.
Lille Airport aims to achieve level 1 - Mapping - to assess its carbon footprint by 2021. It aims to be carbon neutral by 2027 by reducing and, if necessary, offsetting residual emissions through internationally recognised offsets.
The reduction of emissions will, as a priority, focus on the processes that emit the most greenhouse gas, notably by improving the energy performance of existing buildings. This will be achieved by obtaining High Quality Environmental standard for Green Building certification for the extension of the terminal building, and by developing renewable energy production sources.
The reduction of greenhouse gas emissions from mobile sources will be made possible by modernising the vehicle fleet, making more widespread use of 400 Hz electrical power systems and developing soft mobility.
Our Airport Carbon Accreditation process will be achieved through the commitment of the entire airport community.
The development strategy also includes in-depth consideration of the platform’s accessibility – which, to be sustainable, must give priority to public transport – based on measures implemented by Lille Airport in the short term as part of its investment plan, the mobilisation of public transport providers in the region, and active participation, in conjunction with the region’s mobility stakeholders, in the search for innovative or long-term solutions.
