This section concerns passengers who are
affected by a temporary disability (injury or illness) or who have certain
mobility difficulties because of their age or a respiratory condition.
If you break your leg before your departure
and if, though you are able to travel while seated, you need assistance
at the airport and special comfort requirements on the aircraft, notify
your carrier.
If you need to travel with your leg outstretched,
you can use two seats, one in front of the other, by paying a special rate.
In the same way, elderly people who have difficulty
walking can call on an assistance service to get around the airport.
Finally, people who are gravely ill or injured,
who can only travel in a lying position and whose condition necessitates
transport on a stretcher and in an ambulance, will only be accepted on board
subject to the airline doctor’s prior agreement.
The
presence of an attendant (doctor or nurse if special medical attention
is required) is obligatory.
Before boarding and on arrival, the airline can organise handover
from and to an ambulance. The costs are at the expense of the passenger
(except for short connections to certain international airports),
in addition to the additional cost for the stretcher.
Rates will be given when you make your reservation.
When making
the reservation:
When you book your seat, state the nature of your disability (reduced
mobility, sight-impaired, hearing-impaired etc.) and the level of assistance
required to access the services necessary for boarding and disembarking.
With its ‘Saphir’ service, Air France makes a range of personalised
services available to people with reduced mobility.

Access and mobility
within Lille Airport:
The passenger terminal in Lille has been designed for people with reduced
mobility:
- Departures/Arrivals are completely on one level,
- Vertical movements are all via lifts and escalators wide enough for wheelchairs.
On arrival:
As soon as you arrive at the airport, the facilities and special
equipment have been specifically designed for disabled passengers
(reserved car park spaces, ergonomic telephone cabins, lifts etc.)
Assistance service:
Most airlines offer a special assistance service to facilitate
boarding and disembarking: wheelchairs are available free of charge within
the terminal complex,
Enquire at our information desk, located in the Public Hall.
Boarding and disembarking
from the aircraft: Specialist vehicles (with
lifting platforms) are available when the plane cannot be accessed via the
telescopic passenger footbridge. Passengers also benefit from priority boarding,
and they leave the aircraft after the other passengers.
Oxygen canisters:
It is imperative for people who wish to travel with their own oxygen
bottles to contact the airline in advance.
